Oxford

Vigil on 28 October 2023.  The Oxford  crew had a very galvanised experience this weekend: Liz and Sue from WiB London came to present Cynthia Cockburn’s history of Women in Black and the word went out much more widely than to the few hard-core vigillers. Doubtless also moved by the Palestiniantragedy, w e had an unprecedented turnout for the vigil and then a book-launch tea-party at the nearby Friends’ House. (Kathryn Edwards)

Vigil November 2022

Time and place: Every Saturday afternoon from 2pm-3pm, on the steps of the Martyrs Memorial at the bottom of St Giles’ .

Contacts: Carol Stavris 07788-640999 and Kate McKenzie 07595-366529. Email: carolstavris@gmail.com

About: We wear black, if possible, and display our Women in Black Oxford banner and placards showing Picasso’s ‘peace’ image and the core Women in Black tenet: ‘Women in Black against militarism and war’.  Sometimes we have an additional specific theme, but our aim is to promote the generic concept of peace.  Weather permitting, we hand out stickers with the Picasso image.  All women welcome.
