About: We wear black, if possible, and display our Women in Black Oxford banner and placards showing Picasso’s ‘peace’ image and the core Women in Black tenet: ‘Women in Black against militarism and war’. November 2024: We recently had an ‘AGM’ to talk about the future and are considering producing a leaflet and thinking of other ways to engage passers-by.
The Oxford crew had a very galvanised experience this weekend: Liz and Sue from WiB London came to present Cynthia Cockburn’s history of Women in Black and the word went out much more widely than to the few hard-core vigillers. Doubtless also moved by the Palestiniantragedy, w e had an unprecedented turnout for the vigil and then a book-launch tea-party at the nearby Friends’ House. (Kathryn Edwards)

About: We wear black, if possible, and display our Women in Black Oxford banner and placards showing Picasso’s ‘peace’ image and the core Women in Black tenet: ‘Women in Black against militarism and war’. Sometimes we have an additional specific theme, but our aim is to promote the generic concept of peace. Weather permitting, we hand out stickers with the Picasso image. All women welcome.
